South Bend Clutch designs and manufactures heavy-duty performance clutches and clutch components for diesel pickups and other vehicles. A pioneer in the development of Kevlar clutch plates and surfaces, South Bend Clutches are the best solution to chronic clutch failure in many vehicles. What makes South Bend Clutch different from the rest is many companies build one style of clutch and then try to name it stage one, stage two, stage three. South Bend builds their clutches to custom fit the vehicle and application that is needed. Each vehicle has its own unique requirements dealing with turbos, cams, torque capacities and horsepower. Whether it be roundy-round, desert racing, straight track or just street rods, South Bend Clutches have you covered.
South Bend has a well deserved reputation for quality and dependability. All our South Bend clutches are 100% brand new, no clutch core return required! South Bend clutches are Made in U.S.A. of domestic and imported parts. Each kit includes clutch disc, clutch cover, pilot bearing/bushing, clutch release bearing assembly, clutch alignment tool, Threadlocker, anti-seize, dielectric grease, and Dan the Gear Man™ installation video. All carry a 1 year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The maximum horsepower/torque rating is listed for each South Bend clutch.
South Bend high performance clutches are noted for smooth engagement and low pedal effort. ConO clutches feature organic facings with very smooth engagement. ConOFE clutches have an organic facing on one side and a feramic facing on the other. They have a near stock clutch engagement with very high torque ratings. ConFE clutches have full feramic facings on the disc. FE clutches are a little abrupt on engagement, but still much smoother than competitive ceramic clutches.
Standard Duty:
For applications of less than 400hp to the rear wheels, we recommend a South Bend Clutch. This clutch works very well in holding power, yet gives pedal pressure approximately equal to stock and offers minimal engagement chatter. For the 5-speeds, this is the MU0090 Con O clutch while the 6-speeds get the MU1947 Con O.
Heavy Duty:
For the higher horsepower applications of 400+hp, we recommend the Feramic based South Bend Clutches. This clutch material is a bit grabby compared to stock, but offers much improved holding power. For the 5-speeds, this is the MU13-1.25 Con OFE clutch while the 6-speeds get the MU1947 Con FE.
